First Southern State Bank Written by Carol Beddingfield 4/14/2010
One hundred years ago the population was only 92 million
with an average $15 per week income for 54 – 60 hours of labor.
Even during these early times, a group of area business
leaders decided that a bank that understood the needs of families and business
owners in Northeast Alabama was greatly
needed.
They set out to provide a bank that people could call its
own. Thus, the First Southern State Bank
was created.
2010 marks a century of service for First Southern State
Bank with the same mission and principles on which it was founded.
The founders of the bank would barely recognize the face of
banking today.Imagine their amazement
at putting a plastic card in a slot and receiving currency without dealing with
a person.
Comprehensive banking solutions are delivered with
impeccable personal service.The bank
and employees have won numerous awards for their commitment to service.
The other modern convenience of home town banking will be
showcased at the Chamber’s After Hours on April 15th at 5:00 PM at
First Southern State Bank’s branch located at 2128 Gault Avenue, N.
