Chamber Chatter

The best way to calm stressful times for business owners is to seek professional guidance.  William (Billy) Canary, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Business Council of Alabama, has the insight in the present and future business climate of our state.

Everyone is encouraged to hear Mr. Canary at the Chamber’s annual banquet on January 28th at the DeKalb Theatre at 6:00 PM.  Tickets are available at the Chamber office.

Mr. Canary became the president of BCA after serving as the president of the American Trucking Associations in Washington D.C.  Because of his extensive background in the public policy and governmental arenas, President George H. Bush appointed him to serve in the White House as special assistant to the president for intergovernmental affairs.

Following his time at the White House, Mr. Canary was named chief of the staff for the Republican National Committee.  Today, he is the spokesperson for over 5,000 BCA members who employ nearly three quarters of a million Alabamians.

The Chamber will also recognize the recipients of the 2010 key people awards at the event.  The following is a list of the winners:  PlayCore, Large Business; EMI-G Knitting, Small Business; Reverend Ron Johnson, Religious Leader; Jeremy Taylor, Volunteer; Dr. Bart Bailey, Medical Person; Gwen Mitchell, Educator; Sheriff Jimmy Harris, Public Servant; and Brian Baine, Citizen of the Year.

Join us as we celebrate the contributions of these individuals to our community.  Meals will be served. Tickets must be purchased prior to the banquet.  Call the Chamber at 845-2741 for more information.
