Get ready to be entertained.  Boom Days has officially begun.  The successful opening of the Smithsonian Exhibit is an example of things to come.

Harold Dean Mitchell performed the works of Jimmie Rogers at the Fort Payne Opera House.  He is included in the boxed set collection of Jimmie Roger’s music.  This set is ranked 5 stars by Rolling Stone magazine.

If you have ever wondered the role that the Cherokees played in the development of our area, you must attend the Willstown Conference.

Jackie Matt and Chief Stan Long will be giving an overview of Sequoyah and the creation of Willstown.  The event will be held on Thursday, September 10 at the Forest Avenue Auditorium at 7:00 PM.

The Blues Show will be held on Saturday, September 12th at 8:00PM at the DeKalb Theatre.  Debbie Bond, co-founder and director of the Alabama Blues Project will be one of the featured artists.

You will also be absorbed in the talents of Sam Lay.  He is known for his role as the drummer on Bob Dylan’s album “Highway 61”.

Please do not miss the Joe Underwood Gospel Concert on Sunday, September 13th at Forest Avenue Auditorium at 3:00 PM.  Joe is one of the greatest musical treasures in our area.

The Birmingham Sunlights are an acappella group that was recently named winner of the National Endowment of the Arts award.  The New Wings of Glory will also perform.

On behalf of Mayor Jordan, I want to thank the sponsors for the Mayor’s Cup Golf Tournament.  We have a couple of team slots available.  Call the Chamber at 845-2741for more information.
