According to the Department of Justice, over 1.9 million women are physically assaulted annually in the United States.

Because a majority of assaults go unreported, the numbers may represent only a fraction of the violent crimes against women.

While these numbers are frightening, women need not view themselves as helpless victims.

The key to safety is to be prepared.  Don’t let your tendency to be sympathetic get yourself into dangerous situations.  Assist strangers by making a phone call to the police from a safe location.

Be paranoid and suspicious.  Always be aware of your surroundings.  It is better to be safe than sorry.

But what do you do if you have gotten yourself into a violent situation?  Training by Bulldog Investigations, LLC could prevent your becoming a victim.

Steve Green, certified self defense instructor with 30  years experience, will teach you how to out plan an attacker.  The course will be held at the Chamber office on July 14th at 5:30 PM.

Topics of discussion will include making your home safer, safeguards in public places, and handgun protection.

Call 256-273-4822 to enroll.  Seating is limited.  The cost of the training is $30.00.

The WBCNA will hold the last loan clinic at the Chamber on July 14th at 10:00 AM.  Take advantage of this free small business counseling.

Call the Chamber, 845-2741 to register.
