One of the greatest supporters of Fort Payne was born a world away.  Nanda Patel’s childhood was spent in England and Kenya.

Nanda and her husband came to the United States to further their medical careers.  She is a trained radiation therapist.  While working with cancer patients in Fort Payne, a love for our area was nurtured.

Recognizing the tourism potential, Nanda became the principal correspondent of the Holiday Inn and Suites in Fort Payne and Gadsden.  Many prestigious awards have been bestowed upon Nanda and her properties.

I recognized Nanda’s excitement for promoting our area through our involvement with Boom Days.  Together we transported the Gee’s Bend Quilters from Selma to the Holiday Inn Express.

 Comparisons of sacred music were shared between the quilters and Nanda. Quilting techniques were also shown during their stay.

The Holiday Inn Express displays paintings of local attractions.  They help introduce the visitors to Alabama’s best kept secret – Little River Canyon and the surrounding area.

In the lobby of the Gadsden hotel, Nanda’s personal paintings can be seen.  Her artistic ability is very commendable.
