Promethean Boards in Fort Payne School System

Have you wondered what exactly is a Promethean Board? This new device has replaced the typical chalkboard in our school system. They have definitely been the talk of our community.

Jimmy Cunningham and the Fort Payne City Board of Education will welcome the public on February 19th at 5:00 PM at Fort Payne High School to see this new technological teaching tool in action. The Chamber is co hosting this event for our After Hours program.

The chalkboard is the one teaching tool that had not changed in over 300 years. The Promethean Board will allow teachers and students to interact with the internet to gain additional educational information instantly.

I want to encourage you to attend to see how your children or your grandchildren are learning in today’s classroom. They certainly are not walking to school in two feet of snow uphill both ways!

With all the talk about President Obama’s stimulus package, have you ever wondered if your business could contract with the federal government?

The Small Business Administration can answer your questions. On February 19th at 11:00 AM, Jeff Smith will explain the steps for business certification and the completion of the contract application.

An excellent example of selling small business products to the government is Avans Machine and Tool Company of Skyline. NASA buys over 1200 parts from this company located in rural north Alabama.

Call the Chamber, 845-2741, to register.

Get your Krazy Kudzu Follies tickets at the Chamber. Each Wednesday the price is 2 for $20.00. The performances will be March 5, 6, & 7th at the DeKalb Theatre. Tickets are going fast.

I laughed with the cast of Like a Surgeon when Eric Bruce asked “You want me to do what!” The 14 skits are really hilarious.
