Christmas Parade Written by Carol Beddingfield 12/10/2008
The Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce will present the annual Christmas Parade on Friday, December 12th at 6:00PM.
Last year was one of the largest parades. We expect an even greater parade this year.
The 2008 Grand Marshall will be Becky Scott of V.R. Scott Jewelry. This locally owned jewelry store has been in business for 62 years. The Chamber Board of Directors wishes to thank Becky and her family for their dedication to the City of Fort Payne.
Floats will be depicting the true Christmas spirit. The Shriners will entertain young and old with their unusual vehicles. There will be surprises along the way.
The Chamber wishes to thank all the participants in this year’s parade. The time and effort put into the event by so many creates memories for our citizens.
We could not have asked for greater cooperation from the police and fire department. Without their help there would be no parade.
Don’t forget Christmas in the Park before the parade beginning at 4:00 PM at the City Park. This event is sponsored by the City Council and the Fort Payne Parks and Recreation Department. Refreshments will be provided.
The parade brings many people to our downtown area. We hope our businesses will benefit from the event.
The Chamber welcomes Claire and Jack Davidson of Fort Payne Footworks as a part of our downtown merchants. Stop by to see the unbelievable paintings by Lydia Randolph depicting merchandize.
The “Townscapes” prints by Lydia are available at the Chamber office. This set of 4 scenes of downtown will make a great Christmas gift. Proceeds from the sale will be used for the upstairs renovation of the Chamber office.
As we enter into the greatest season of the year, please remember to share your blessings with many of our citizens who are less fortunate.
The Census Bureau Jobs will take applications for positions Monday, December 15th at the Chamber office. Call 845-2174 for more information
