Country Boy Grill Written by Carol Beddingfield 8/27/2008
Because my dad died when I was only 10 years old, my mom had to find employment quickly. She soon discovered that jobs were sparse for a woman with no formal training.
As with most things in our lives, a solution was found. She became a waitress for one of the family owned restaurants in our town. The work was very hard but she enjoyed serving the public. I was able to help her out when I became old enough to work.
I have always had a deep appreciation for anyone employed in the food service industry. Memories began to flood my mind as I interviewed the owners of Country Boy Grill.
Diana Bell and her husband along with son, Jerry Rosen, and his finance, Tiffany Buckhanan, moved from south Florida to start life again in a small town. The area in which they lived was no longer small or rural.
Having moved close to family in Valley Head, Diana decided that it was time to start a restaurant in this area. Jerry had learned many skills through working in a prominent chain restaurant. Yet, he claims his mom was his real teacher.
This family brings their gift and love of cooking to Fort Payne. According to Diana, nothing is pre-made but is made from scratch. The daily meat and three plates are a great hit with the customers.
Diana was quick to brag on the people of Fort Payne for their friendliness and their willingness to help with the start of the restaurant. Dr. Steve Brewer was very helpful in the renovation of the building.
My father’s favorite saying, “Treat visitors like family, and family like visitors”, can be seen in the operation of County Boy Grill located at 100 First Street, W Call 845-4300 for menu listings and take out.
Enjoy a home cooked meal starting with breakfast at 7:00 AM. Once you try the baked glazed yeast doughnuts, you will be hooked.
