The Career Readiness Certificate

Have you ever been in a job interview and wish that you had documentation that would prove your qualifications?  The Career Readiness Certificate may be the answer for you.

This certificate is an assessment-based credential that gives employers and career seekers a uniform measure of key workplace skills.

By 2010, more than 80% of all jobs will require skill levels beyond those gained in high school.  Almost all workers will need training and education at the post-secondary level.

The Career Readiness Certificate will verify that you can handle the kinds of tasks – finding information, reading instructions and directions, and working with figures – that are common in today’s workplace.

To certify the skills that you presently have or to improve job readiness skills, the Alabama Career Center in Fort Payne, the Northeast Alabama Adult Education Program, and the Workforce Development Office of Northeast Alabama Community College are ready to help you.

If you are 16 years old and older and can provide your own transportation, you may qualify for the program called “Ready to Work”. This program, to the greatest extent possible, will offer a simulated workplace that provides trainees with entry level workplace skills.

Classes are offered for the completion of the Certified Worker Certificate and the Career Readiness Certificate.  There is no cost to the trainee except for the commitment of time it will take to complete the program.

Ready to Work provides training in the following areas:  Manufacturing, Communication Skills, Problem Solving, Workplace Behavior, Workplace Safety, and Computer Skills.

The Fort Payne area is becoming more diversified in job opportunities.  Do not get lost in the transition between school and work or between one job and another.  Join the 2300 Alabamians who have certification of their job skills

Call Linda McCain, 845-2900, at the Alabama Career Center, or the Workforce Development Office of Northeast Alabama Community College at 228-6001, Ext. 438.
