Christmas Parade Written by Carol Beddingfield 12/1/2010
Yes Virginia
there is a Santa Claus. He will be in
the Fort Payne Christmas Parade!
A big thank you is extended to all those who called or wrote
us a note about Santa not being in the parade.
There is only one Santa and he is always on the Fort Payne
fire truck at the end of the parade.
The floats and other entries can have animated or toy
Santas. We really appreciate all the
interest in the parade. There are
several new entertaining entries.
We have also had several inquiries about having live animals
in the parade. Our insurance coverage
will only allow the Sheriff’s Mounted Unit.
These horses have been trained to be in crowds.
All participants must have a vehicle pass to enter the
parade area. Registration forms and
passes are available at the Chamber until December 6th.
The Grand Marshall this year will be Martin’s Jewelers. It is an honor to recognize the Martin family
for their 50th Anniversary.
Christmas in the Park will be held prior to the parade. Refreshments and entertainment will be
provided by the City of Fort Payne.
Also, the Grand Avenue Bells will be playing December 10th
at 4:00 PM at the Opera House. Admission
is free.
The Chamber has Christmas cards for sale. Lydia Randolph created a special Boom Day
Christmas print for the cards. The print
is absolutely perfect to send to family and friends. It can be considered a gift if later framed.
Please shop locally this holiday season. If you have a gift idea, call the Chamber at
256-845-2741 for a business referral.
