Carol Beddingfield Chamber Director After serving the citizens of Fort Payne as Director of the DeKalb County Aging Programs and the Alabama Hosiery Technology Center, Carol Beddingfield has become the seventh director of the Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce.
Through her leadership, the DeKalb-Fort Payne Senior Center was created. The aging program grew from less than 10 employees to over 48. Senior citizens received various services including recreation, transportation, meals, and a free prescription drug program. A senior work program, “Seniors Sock It to You,” was developed to provide income to the senior workers as well as a service to the local hosiery industry.
As director of the Alabama Hosiery Technology and Research Center, training programs were created to enhance the skills of the employees in the hosiery industry. The programs were developed in accordance with the goal of the Center to keep the industry competitive in the world market.
“I look forward to being a part of the positive growth for the future of the City of Fort Payne. Guidance provided by the Chamber’s Board of Directors and its membership will broaden and improve our services to the community. The Chamber cannot stand alone in meeting its overall objective to be more active, more aggressive, and more responsive in promoting the City and our quality of life. After all, what an easy thing to sell – the beauty of our area and the goodness of our citizens.”

Donna Parshall Chamber Office Manager Donna comes to the Chamber with a wealth of experience in public relations. Donna's previous position as administrative assistant to the director of the Alumni Affairs Department of the University of Tennessee makes her a great asset to the Chamber office. Fifteen years of experience in office management including computer skills will provide even greater service to the Chamber’s membership.
Donna comes to job with knowledge in trying to meet the needs and desires of a member based organization. When Donna was asked why she thought she was the best candidate for the Chamber’s Office Manager, she was quick to reply that her background brings responsibility, dedication, and the ability to work smart, while demonstrating her skills and abilities. Donna's work ethic and true concern to help people speak volumes about the person Donna really is.
"I am truly happy to be working with the Chamber of Commerce. I have met some wonderful people since becoming a part of the chamber and I have learned so much about the area and community since taking this position. I want people that visit or call the chamber to feel their importance when I am speaking with them. This is not just a job to me, but a real honor to be able to help our community and visitors. I hope that I will be able to continue to help in the community any way possible and to benefit the wonderful people of Fort Payne."
