Fort Payne and the surrounding area are very blessed to have quality health care. Not only do we have modern facilities but we also have excellent in-home care programs.

Working with terminally ill patients and their families takes a special commitment. The Southeast Hospice Network is a team of professional care givers who work together to give help, guidance, resources, reassurance, and dignity to those they serve.

The goal of Southeast Hospice Network is to provide the greatest comfort with peace in the last days of life – when it maters the most. Patients and families are taught how to live with a life-threatening illness, not die with one.

Hospice is a holistic approach to providing compassionate care. It is for any patient who is facing a life-threatening illness with a life expectancy of six months or less.

Core services are provided by nurses, chaplains, social workers, hospice aides and volunteers who coordinate with the patient’s doctors. Bob Hundley, chaplain, and I went to school together. He is truly one of the most caring individuals that I have ever known.

The Southeast Hospice Network is a division of Southeast Cancer Network. The Cancer Care Center of DeKalb is one of the eleven cancer care centers located across the state. These treatment centers are staffed with board certified medical and radiation oncologists, oncology-certified nurses, and support services.
