Chamber Chatter

Leon Russell is a music legend. Perhaps the most accomplished and versatile musician in the history of rock ‘n roll. In his distinguished 50 year career, he has played on, arranged, written, and /or produced some of the greatest records in popular music.

Leon’s music spans all ages. His genre stretches from country, blue grass to gospel blues and rock ‘n roll.

He is recognized in the industry for his collaboration with such noted artists as Joe Cocker, Willie Nelson, Beatles George Harrison, Ringo Star and John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Bruce Hornsby, Barbra Streisand, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, the Tractors, and The Righteous Brothers.

The list goes on and on and includes my favorite, Ray Charles.

Leon began piano lessons at age 4. His career began at age 14 in Tulsa, Oklahoma nightclubs. After graduating high school, he and his band toured with Jerry Lee Lewis.

In May 1970, Leon produced his first solo album, “Leon Russell”. The album contained his own classics such as “A Song for You”, “Hummingbird”, and “Delta Lady”.

Leon joined George Harrison and friends to create the Concert for Bangladesh, a fund raiser for refugees. The album created from the concert earned a Grammy Award for album of the year.

How could you miss this opportunity to see and hear one of the greatest performers of our time! Tickets are available at the Chamber for the September 19^th performance at the DeKalb Theatre at 8:00 PM.

No words can describe the event better than those of Leon: “I love you in a place where there’s no space or time.”
